Women in Film, Art & Media – Winner
Sarah Nelson!

Sarah has a passion for creative work and theatre. She often gives up her spare time to help young people prepare for auditions for Drama School and encourages novice play writers to follow their dreams.
Sarah’s achievements include writing and directing the opening Odean Cinema Complex in Oldham, a huge outdoor spectacle which celebrated the towns past and it’s community. She was also on the team of the ‘Every Life Matters’ campaign, which won an Oldham Pride Award, brought about by the tragic death of Christopher Dale. The Every Life Matters campaign was viewed by over 2,500 students in the borough and went on to play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
For International Women’s Day, Sarah worked on a passion project which pulled together several volunteers of all ages to retell the story of Oldham’s suffragette, Annie Kenney. The piece was performed multiple times, and once more at the unveiling of a statue of Annie Kenney celebrating 100 years of women first voting!

Massive congratulations to you, Sarah!!
