WiN- BUILDING BRIDGES This year Women in Neighbourhoods (WiN) received an Outstanding Learner Engagement Award for their 'Building Bridges' project. Funded by Neighborhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC), Building Bridges has 130 new learners in Great Lever, Halliwell, Crompton and Rumworth. Its aim was to engage women in deprived neighbourhoods and boost self-confidence, help to overcome feelings of low self-esteem through courses and initiatives such as 'Reach Out' and 'Mind Your Mind', IT in Mosques, Second Helpings, My Shop – Enterprise 4U and Tell Your Story- Community Corner. Maura Jackson is undoubtedly an inspirational women, a leader and a role model. Last year she  undertook a challenge to live for five days as a 'homeless young person' to see for herself what it was like to live on benefits. Maura is director of Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme (BYPHS), a registered charity that provides temporary supported accommodation for people aged 16-25 in the Bolton area, including some with mental health and substance abuse issues.
