At SheInspires, our commitment goes beyond awards and celebrations—we are deeply rooted in supporting our local communities through impactful outreach initiatives. Our projects focus on creating safe spaces, fostering connections, and empowering individuals, particularly women and young people, to thrive. Whether it’s through food, art, health, or education, we work to address the pressing challenges our communities face, always with collaboration and inclusivity at heart.

Taste of Bolton // Breaking Barriers Through Food
Food is one of the oldest and most universal ways to connect people, and our Taste of Bolton initiative celebrates this timeless truth. By sharing recipes, cooking together, and exploring different cuisines, we bring people from all walks of life together.
Our weekly virtual kitchens, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, offer a platform to learn, share, and connect over food. Participants can cook alongside others, discover new cultural traditions, and contribute to a community recipe book showcasing Bolton’s incredible diversity.
Food opens conversations, breaks down barriers, and builds understanding—and at a time when the world feels more divided than ever, it’s a powerful tool to unite us.

Bollywood Chai Cafés // Conversations Through Culture
Our Bollywood Chai Cafés provide a unique and inviting space to tackle issues like mental health, loneliness, and loss. By combining the nostalgia of classic Bollywood films with the warmth of chai, traditional games, and music, these cafés create a safe environment for open dialogue.
They’re particularly effective in engaging young people and men, using the shared love of culture to spark meaningful conversations about well-being and connection.
Young People and Mental Health // Creativity as a Voice
Art has the power to heal, inspire, and connect, and we use it as a medium to address critical issues facing young people, including mental health challenges, grief, and loneliness. Through community film, art, and media projects, we provide a creative outlet for self-expression and a platform to bring people together through shared stories.

HealthConnect // Bridging Health Inequalities
Health is a fundamental right, but not everyone has equal access to it. HealthConnect events, supported by NHS England and local GP surgeries like Kildonan House aim to make healthcare more accessible to women and families in our communities.
We help there bring healthcare to the people, offering practical information, access to services, and a safe space to discuss health issues. These events have had an incredible impact, empowering women to prioritise their health and encouraging conversations between generations, from mother-in-laws to daughter-in-laws.
Collaboration and Partnerships
We couldn’t do any of this without the incredible support of our partners and funders. Over the years, we’ve worked with organisations such as:
- National Lottery Community Fund
- Forever Manchester
- Bolton CVS
- Sport England
- European Social Fund
- ASDA Foundation
- This Girl Can
- Bolton at Home
- Bolton College
- Bolton Sixth Form
- Unlimited Potential
- Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS)
Together, we’ve delivered accredited courses, hosted community events, and created opportunities for people to connect, learn, and grow.
