October has always been one of my favourite months in the She Inspires calendar. It is the month when the world begins to soften — the light turns golden, the air gentles, and everything feels as though it is preparing for a moment of significance.
For us, October is the quiet heartbeat before the great crescendo of November. It is when our community begins to gather — not just in logistics or nominations, but in spirit.
This year, our pre-awards gathering felt especially meaningful.
A room filled with women who had walked long roads, carried heavy stories, and earned every moment of recognition that now stood before them. And there we were — together — to pause, to breathe, and to honour that journey.
There is something powerful about seeing women wear their finalist sashes for the first time. It is not just fabric; it is acknowledgement. The sash sits on a shoulder, but it rests on years of effort, sacrifice, late nights, quiet battles, and unspoken courage.

And then came one of the most moving moments of the evening — lighting the candles.
In that dim, warm glow, every woman held a small circle of light between her fingers… light that symbolised her story, her strength, her resilience. One by one, candles flickered into life, and the room transformed into something almost sacred — a constellation of women who have chosen to rise, and in doing so, light the way for others.
In that moment, it didn’t matter who would win on awards night.
What mattered was that these women had arrived, been seen, and were finally standing in their truth.
October reminded me, yet again, that She Inspires is not just an event.
It is a community.
A sanctuary.
A gathering of hearts.
And as we closed the evening, with laughter, promise, and that signature She Inspires sparkle in the air, I felt certain that what we are building is not just a celebration — it is a legacy.
