Olwyn is the chair of The Golden Oldies, an older people’s wellbeing group in Tonge Fold. Before Olwyn came along the group was about to fold due to ill health and lack of confidence in existing members. Since she joined she has turned the group around, working tirelessly to ensure needs of residents in the local area are met. The Inspire Circle Gets Crafty

Our most recent project ‘The Inspire Circle’ funded by National Lottery reaches out to women and young girls in mostly marginalised  hard to reach communities in Bolton. The project aims to address lack of leadership in women generally but particularly in BAME communities. Weekly sessions were organised were women participants took the lead and conducted sessions. They were leaders instead of participants and spectators. All participants really enjoyed taking in leadership roles. It boosted their self esteem and confidence. They felt worthy and appreciated. SCORES of Bolton’s most inspiring women were honoured when the 2018 Inspire Awards were held at the Macron Stadium. Around 500 people were present to see 26 awards distributed to women from every area of local life – the charity field, social care, business, sports, industry and also highlighting individual achievement.
