Women’s charity group celebrates 75 years in Bolton
A group of Bolton women recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of an organisation which has made a difference to the lives of women locally and internationally. Soroptimist International of Bolton was founded before the start of the Second World War in 1938, and three-quarters-of-a-century later the group is still going strong. The Bolton members are among thousands of Soroptimists of all ages and backgrounds in countries across the world. The movement started in America in 1921 before coming to London in 1923 and reaching Manchester in 1926.
